As we already informed, the Foundation of Alexandrina of Balasar is going to perform repairing and restoration constructions works in the house of Blessed Alexandrina. In order to reopen the house on the 13th of October, on Blessed Alexandrina’s festivities, the constructions have already started the week after Easter and we predict that until the end of September they will be completed. For this reason, pilgrims, during this period, won’t be able to visit the house. We apologize for this inconvenience but it’s it for a better cause.
The house where Alexandrina lived will be carefully repaired, to develop its functional and architectonic original characteristics. Our main goal is for the house to work as a sanctuary, a place for prayer and, a house museum which represents Blessed Alexandrina’s life by recreating the most remarkable events and keeping the rooms and the house as lived by Alexandrina.
Its interior will be restored as it was during her life, recovering materials and correction some changes that were made over time, since her death that lead to the tampering of the original image.
This way, we propose to do a maintenance and recovering of most parts of the house (bedrooms, hall and main living room) and conversion or redesign of some spaces meanwhile built (outside toilet), adulterated (outside stairs) or in poor conditions (kitchen and toilets).
These renovation and restoration works will be prepared in accordance with the original environment of each compartment and providing them with the necessary requirements to improve their functionality.
The outer area of the house will be subject to specific interventions that will allow us to give more comfort to visitors. Current areas that are on the lower floor will be converted into areas for ex-votes.
A Sanctuary of Prayer and Meditation
As we said, we want the home of Blessed Alexandrina to be a place of prayer, reflection and silence. An encounter with God through Jesus, who spoke a lot with Alexandrina. As said Father Alfredo: "That house reminded me of a Bethania"
We want the pilgrims who visit Blessed Alexandrina’s house not to just simple visit but to have an encounter with Blessed Alexandrina and the message that Jesus transmit through Blessed Alexandrina.
As when Alexandrina was alive many visitors came as curious people, but would leave different and converted, so we hope that the mere visitors leave as pilgrims.
Particularly in this year of the saint of Mercy Jubilee, we want them to find in Alexandrina the Apostle of Mercy, in your life, message and mission.
The great mission that Jesus has entrusted Alexandrina is the conversion of sinners and Mercy forgiveness of God, living the mystery of the Eucharist, Jesus left the Tabernacle, and not offending Jesus, because He is so good.
