Mystique Alexandrina

What's mysticism? The Catechism of the Catholic Church says:

"The spiritual progress tends to a communion with Christ always more intimate. This communion is called ‘mystical’ because it participates in the mystery of Christ for the Sacraments ‘the Holy Mysteries’ and, in the mystery of the Holy Trinity, God calls us all to this intimate union with Him, even if special graces or extraordinary signs of this mystical life are granted only to few, in order to express the free gift given to all.” (CIC; 2014)

Alexandrina was one of those souls the Lord allowed "spiritual graces or extraordinary signs", experiencing throughout her life grand mystical phenomena.

Father Humberto explains the path that leads to the mystical soul, the path that Alexandrina trod:

"The meeting of Jesus with the soul, for this intimate work, takes place in prayer, and becomes more purifier, enlightening and edifying the more perfect is the prayer.

In the first period, which can be shorter or longer, the soul acts, to meet its God; then, if it's faithful, God himself invests it with the light and immerses it in contemplation. In the first period we have the ascetic soul, and in the second one, the mystical soul."

(Father Humberto Pasquale cit. in Pasquale, H.; "Alexandrina", page 71)

Let's see some of the most significant mystical experiences in Alexandrina's life:

Childhood

There is in Alexandrina's childhood the first "steps" on the path of her faith and contemplation:

"With nine years old, when I got up early to go to work on the farms, and when I was alone, I contemplated the nature: the daybreak, the sunrise, the chirping of little birds; the murmur of the waters came into me in a deep contemplation that I almost forgot that I was living in this world. I stopped my own steps and got soaked in this thought: the power of God! And, when I was by the sea, oh! I lose myself in front of that infinite grandeur! At night, contemplating the sky and the stars, I hid even more to admire the beauties of the Creator! How many times, in my little garden, where today is my room, I stared at the sky, listening to the murmur of the waters and I contemplated more and more this abyss of Divine greatness! I regret not knowing how to enjoy everything to start at this age my meditations."
